Sharon K. Gilbert, 71, of Milford, IN passed away at 1:22 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. She was born on February 26. 1941 in Syracuse, IN to Clinton Albert “Bud” & Lois Louise (Simon) Gilbert.

She was a lifetime Milford / Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1959 from Syracuse High School.  She retired in June 2006 from The Papers in Milford after 45 years of service.

She formerly attended the Syracuse Church of the Brethren and was a member of the Lakeland Ladies Bowling League for 46 years as well as being active in the organization
at Wawasee Bowl in Syracuse.

She was survived by:
Sister –Janice (Larry) Ryman of Milford
Niece – Tammy Stewart of Milford
2 Nephews – Tracy Ryman of Milford & Terry (wife, Lori) Ryman of South Bend
1 Gt. Nephew, 7 Gt. Nieces, 1 Gt. Gt. Nephew, & 2 Gt. Gt. Nieces


She was preceded in death by her parents and a great nephew.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Weiland of the Wawasee Bible Church in Milford officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to the Sharon Gilbert Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567 or the Syracuse Food Bank, 203 E. Main St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

So sorry to learn of Sharon's passing. She will be missed. I have so many fond memories with Sharon. Of course the biggest memory is of all the bowling tournaments we went to. I can see Imy's face when she saw Sharon entrying the gates of heaven. What fun they will have catching up. My deepest sympathy to you Janice and family.

To the Gilbert Family, Sharon will be greatly missed by hundreds of individuals. She tou he'd a lot of lives before she went home to be with God. The things that she would do for others like, bus trip to Christmas shopping, mystery trips, and of course th crafts. Sharon we will all miss you. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Sor sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. I enjoyed many years at Wawasee Bowl bowling with and against her. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

I just learned of Sharon's passing today. My condolences go out to the Gilbert family. I knew Sharon from bowling many years at Wawasee Bowl & also attending the Alumni Banquets. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
