Freddie Taylor “Fred” Powell, 77, of Milford, IN passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on December 31, 1943 in Terre Haute, IN to Thomas Taylor & Rebecca Mae (Powers) Powell.
He graduated in 1964 from Bourbon High School and was married on April 12, 1963 in Plymouth, IN to Marilyn Delores Scott who preceded him on October 29, 2016. He formerly worked at the Farmers Exchange, Times Union in Warsaw, and The Paper in Milford, and worked for the Milford & Kosciusko County EMS. He was also a self-employed transportation driver. He grew up Terre Haute and lived most of his life in the Marshall / Kosciusko County area.
He was a former member of the Milford Kiwanis and formerly attended the Gospel Tabernacle in Warsaw.

Daughter – Latisha (Ian) Karns of Lafayette, IN
2 Sons – Terry Powell of Milford and Richard (Alison) Powell of Syracuse
4 Grand & 8 Gt. Grandchildren
3 Sisters – Dorothy (Vernon) Frayer of Ft. Wayne, Clara (Joe) Rosebaum of Plymouth, and Rebecca Quimby of Argos
Step Brother – Max (Evie) Fribley of Warsaw
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister – Nellie Turpin, and 2 brothers – Tom & Bill Powell.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Jack Barthel officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15 Warsaw, IN.
Preferred memorials may be given to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 S. 325E, Pierceton, IN 46562.
