Obituary

Janice T. Amado, 57, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 5:09 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Goshen Hospital. She was born on June 18, 1964 in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil to Alfredo Bernardes & Maria (Santa Maria) Torres.

She grew up in Brazil and graduated from high school & attended college there. She was married on February 24, 1990 in Porto Alegre, Brazil to Alcides F. “Fernando” Amado who survives and moved to the Milford / Syracuse area in 1994. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Doc Millers & Family Dollar both in Syracuse.

She is survived by:

Husband – Fernando Amado of Syracuse

Daughter – Fernanda Torres Amado of Romeoville, IL

Son - Matheus Torres Amado of Nashville, TN

Sister – Jane Torres in Porto Alegre, Brazil

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister – Jorgea Torres Althaus.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February, 22, 2022 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Harlan Steffen officiating. Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Preferred memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
